BASIC DESIGN

Architecture

· Data Center area shall have weight Load of minimum 600㎏/㎠ otherwise, should be reinforced
· In the ceiling where water pipe is running, drip pan with leak detector shall be provided
· Minimum 20% of lighting shall be battery backed emergency lighting
· All the internal walls and partitions shall be sealed slab to slab with 2 hour fire resistant material
· Vapor barrier shall be incorporated to Floor slab, ceiling and exterior wall
· All the wall penetrations shall be sealed with fire stop
· Internal wall shall be water-painted
· The door and doorframe shall have no gap/If there is window, it should be blocked with insulation panel
· Raised floor height shall be minimum 400㎜, preferably 500㎜
· Raised floor tile shall be conductive and with weight load of 400㎏/㎡
· Pedestals shall be fixed to slab by bond or Hilty
· Where applicable, seismic preparation should be considered
· Raised floor shall have sufficient openings at Cold Aisle and shall have no openings at Hot Aisle
· The hole cutting area of tile shall be rubber stripped
· Heavy weight Equipment shall be installed on the sub frame or reinforced pedestal
· Slab concrete shall be clean without crack, drain hall. Floor duct shall be removed and filled with mortar
· Under floor Insulation required to prevent condensation

Mechanical

· CRAC system should have redundancy and energy efficiency
· All bldg ducts and FCU should be removed from D.C, AHU air volume shall be adjusted
· Hot/Cold Aisle structure with Containment is best practice for energy saving
· At Hot/Cold Aisle atmosphere, CRAC shall be located at Hot Aisle
· Where applicable, separate corridor room for CRAC installation and maintenance recommended
· Auto sequencing restart should be provided for multiple CRAC installation
· Water (Glycol) cooled type CRAC shall have dual piping circuit
· Ethylene Glycol 30% is normal for winter operation
· Dual pump with automatic change over shall be provided/Expansion tank shall be installed
· Piping shall be insulated against condensation or freezing
· Safety valve shall be provided for maintenance at the in/outlet of water flow from CRAC
· Where applicable, motorized valve shall be installed at water supply side to stop water flow at leak alarm
· Cable type leak detector shall be provided around the CRAC and surrounding the IT Room
· CRAC Operation shall be interlinked with fire alarm system to stop blower operation at fire alarm
· Sufficient drain point shall be secured
· Base frame should have vibration isolation pad and guide vane
· Where applicable, NFC (Natural Free Cooling) devices such as Heat Pipe, EFC, AFC and Kyoto Wheel shall
  be incorporated

Electric

· Large Data Center shall have dual supply of power from different power plants
· Dedicated Generator and 24 hours oil reservoir shall be provided
· Sufficient capacity of power shall be secured for Data Center for future expansion
· Dual power supply from separate transformers shall be applied to Data Center floor
· UPS Shall be Parallel Redundancy or Dual Bus configuration with LBS(Line Bus Synchronizer)
· Battery room shall be air conditioned and the area shall have sufficient weight load strength
· TVSS Shall be applied to each power entrance and distribution points
· Power Distribution Unit shall have sufficient numbers of breakers/ELB shall not be used for critical power
· Cable tray for AC, DC and data cable shall be distinguished by different shape or colors
· Cable Trays for power and data cable shall not run in parallel vicinity
· Neutral cable and lug shall be 2 times bigger than other hot cables
· The server racks shall have dual power input
· Sufficient cable size shall be allowed for computer grade ground and safety ground
· Pedestals of raised floor, metal pipes shall also be grounded
· All cables and PDU breakers shall be appropriately tagged and have labelling

Fire

· Data Center shall have certified gas extinguish system such as HCFC 24, NAF-III, Inergen or FM-200
· Existing sprinkler and detectors shall be removed
· Gas extinguisher shall be modular or centralized type with legally approved gas quantity
· Where high pressure gas such as Inergen used, purge shall be provided at the wall
· In case package cabinet is installed, the cabinet shall be anchored to slab (or wall)
· Detectors shall be in dual line with ionized and photoelectric
· Detectors shall be installed at ceiling void, ceiling and under raised floor
· Siren, Speaker, Discharge lamp, Exit lamp shall be provided
· Battery backed emergency lamp and exit lamp shall be provided
· Fire alarm system shall be linked to Building monitor room and monitor screen shall be modified
· Fire system shall be certified by relevant authority
· Vesda or Pre-Action system is recommended
· All the power for fire system shall be drawn from UPS power and battery backed

BMS & Security

· Access control shall be dual at main entrance and IT Room Door
· All entries shall be recorded and transmitted (to monitoring center)
· Doors shall have contact monitor and reader tamper switch
· Access control shall be applied to each person per door and time
· Anti-Pass back shall be provided
· All the other doors, wall, ceiling and window shall be protected from intrusion
· Electric lock shall be fail-safe type
· CCTV Shall be installed at required area
· Cameras shall see each other and there will be no dead angle
· Cameras shall work in low lux
· Digital Video Recorder shall be provided for 24 hour recording
· Infra-Red detector is recommended for night watch
· Security control system shall be located inside the access controlled area
· Security control system shall be powered by UPS and battery backed
